Hello all,
I've been thinking about shooting some service rifle this year.  I've shot f-class for a fews years now and think it's time for some thing new.  The AR is totally new to me, so I was wondering what I should expect to pay for a good USED A2 service rifle.  I saw one that is a rr lower with a WOP krieger upper and jewel trigger that's used but have no idea what its worth?  Any help would be great.
Thanks
Scott

I assume you mean Rock River by rr. My first thought was Registered Reciever (an M16A2 machinegun - worth about 12-16k)

With a kreiger barrel and jewell trigger they probably want a pretty penny. If thats what your looking for it might be worth the extra. Is the jewel trigger service rifle legal? You could probably build your own for $700 to a $1000 depending on who you source parts from.

FWIW I might pay 1k for a krieger barreled upper with a jewel trigger if that was exactly what I was looking for. Much more than that and I can put it together myself with new parts.

I just picked up a used Rock River National Match upper half (albeit an -A4) for $450 including the sights and a harris bi-pod, no BCG.  I don't think an -A2 version would be far off from that price.  Obviously you can spend into the stratosphere with something like this, but for $450 plus a lower that I already had, I now at least have my foot in the door and should be somewhat competitive if I do my part.  If I take to it, I'll spend the $ needed to win, but I just want to learn and try things out for now.

Go here and ask any and all service rifle questions. Then monitor their equipment exchange. This site is the go-to board for all things NRA high power. http://www.usrifleteams.com/forums/

ETA: I built one using a new white oak upper, geissele high speed, etc. for a total of 1200.

I just bought an ARMALITE M15A2 (20" medium weight barrel) in mint condition for $820. They sell new for over $1000. To put a free floating forend and match barrel on it will be another $400, but I intend to keep it stock for my first year of Service Rifle competition.

Definitely go with white oak for the upper. Best money can buy, and it costs marginally more than RRA.
