Well, I spoke to Roger Allen today at Midwest Distributors, and since I have a McKay A2 lower all alone and lonely in the safe...decided to drop some $$ on the one in the middle.
Apparently these are police department guns and show rack wear, but little use. It will be a good match to my “battlefield pickup” looking A1 and M4. (I like my guns with a bit of attitude…) |

What's going on with the barrel on the top one? Looks kinda weird about an inch back from the flash suppressor. I noticed the same thing. I was going to post a question and thought....Naw, it's gotta be something common. Grenade ring ? Bipod clamp ? I thought bipod attachment first...Then grenade ring...But it looks like it's larger diameter than the FH, so, would that work? Maybe some kind of attachment related to riot control device used on police guns? Maybe like the "Ring Airfoil Projector"? |

Update - I receive the middle kit this morning (link shown in first post) and was more than happy with the condition. These were indeed rack guns as told to me by the owner of Midwest Distributors. The stock and handguard showed normal wear from handling, but the metal was pretty much free from flaws..It was dirty...Only problem is the upper is Colt Grey (as expected) and my McKay is black...I am type "A" enough that I have boxed up my lower to have Victor at US anodizing redo it in XM grey.
Pictures when the lower returns - this is my first A2 build and so far I like the way it looks and feels... |
