My 114 is ejecting brass in such a way that the case mouth is hitting the deflector and being bent into a "D" shape.  I can see perfect little half-moon shaped marks on the face of the deflector from each round fired.  Not every single one hits, but the vast majority do.  They are contacting the deflector about 1/4 - 1/8" from the tip.

I am currently using a Spike's ST-T2 buffer.

Do I need to go up to a T3, or down to a T1?

Sorry, no pics.  I let my buddy keep the brass for the privilege of shooting at his range, and already cleaned up the rifle.

Call PWS, but I would wait until after SHOT

Kind of sounds like the ejector spring is too stiff.
I'm running a Vltor A5 system with an H3, but I'm tuned to run suppressed, although it runs fine un-supressed.
Before that, I had the spikes t2 also. I did not have the problem you mention.

With there 300 Blackout PWS recommends a T1 when shooting without a suppressor or with a suppressor and Sub-Sonic Ammunition.
They only recommend using a T2 buffer if you were using a suppressor with Super-Sonic Ammo.
This is with there 300 Blackout so it may not apply in your situation.

Thank you all for your input.

I did consider the ejector spring. It actually felt stiff when I gave her the initial cleaning/inspection.

I presumed this may cause the case to over-rotate. But then I thought that would just cause the impact to occur elsewhere on the case.

I was hoping that changing the buffer may prevent the case from making contact at all.

I know it's no big deal, but I'm starting to save all my brass in case there's a "shortage" someday.

After discussing the issue with my friendly neighborhood AR manufacturer (Spike's), I'm going to try the T1.

I'll update with results for those who may be curious.
