+1 for Pics.  I'm about to pull the trigger on a 16 inch P308 after I get rid of my AR 5.56

I'm glad it shot for you.  You made it further than I did in the POF owners process.

Englishguy3012, Have you considered a Hogan Gun in .308?  Do your research, they are more pleasant to work with AND they actually make their own rifles.  If you like POF, you LOVE a Hogan as they are the original designers of the rifle your looking at, plus they have made advancements on their own.

Yea, I started a thread about it a month or two back that got out of hand quick.  I've still not decided between the two, but finding a hogan for around 2300 is hard right now, and that's my budget, being a college kid nowadays...  I'm having to sell one of my gas piston 5.56's to primarily fund the bigger caliber, but will be worth it in the end I'm sure.

Ya just can't argue with that logic.  Good deal for cash is best.

englishguy3012,
You can't go wrong with a Hogan Gun.  Yes, they are quite spendy, but in the grand scheme of things, you have to look at what your getting in the rifle.  They are worth every penny.  It's the last rifle that you will ever have to buy.  Have you looked at their Hero model?  It still has the nice fluted Rock Creek barrel and is more affordable.

I also have a Hogan H – 308. It is a super gun. I highly recommend it and their customer service is second to none.

Wanting to get into a .308, but I appreciate the help, and advice.  I'm thinking whichever pops up first after I offload my AR will get my money.  I agree you get what you pay for, and a 16 inch .308 thats pretty damn accurate at 600m, and can still hit, even if not 100% effective at 800m will be just fine for me.  But yea, whichever pops up first will get my bid, will keep all posted.

Spend your money how you wish is how I feel.  I wouldn't necessarily say whoever is first as if I make up my mind to get something, I want the best.  I used to have an H-308 18' and loved it.  My wife decided that we needed the money more than the rifle.    Happy wife is a happy life though.  Have you ever heard of Steve Reichert?  He holds the USMC record as a sniper.  His blog is very informative regarding the Hogan H-308.  When I get some more money, I plan on purchasing another one as I need a good hunting rifle

The Best Sniper Rifles Money Can Buy

Semi-Auto:

There are a number of good semi-auto rifles out there. The company that has some of the best features out there is Hogan Manufacturing. I spent a few days this past year with Mr. Bob Davies and Robert Hogan. They were kind enough to show me how and why M16 based semi-autos fail, what makes them inaccurate, and the steps they took to drastically improve them. Have you ever seen a 14” 7.62mm semi stay @ ½ MOA out to 600yds? Or a 12” version hitting chest plates at 900yds? The Hogan rifles will do this all day long. If you look closely at them you will notice the massive barrel-but / cooling block. It’s the same system that HK copied and put into their 417 (Bob Davies is the one who holds that patent). Sure there are others out there…. But they don’t take the AR-10 platform to the level of the AK-47’s reliability! If you think that’s an overstatement then go get a Hogan and take it for a run.

Ohhh, here's another write up that he did on the 14.5" H-308 that he did.
