I've finally been able to finish my piston kit build. I got my form 4 back and was able to complete my rifle. I am using an AA piston kit. My first test did not do so well. Rifle fired, but did not eject. The hammer would reset, but the spent case remained in the chamber and would not try to load another. That was all I could do at the time. Today I went out and had the same issue. I did have two other AR's with me. I removed the FRS buffer and spring. I replaced them with a regular buffer and spring from one of my other AR's. Now I am firing good, but no BHO on the last round. I looked at the spring and I am wondering if it is for rifle length and not carbine. I did not think much of it at the time since it was a special spring and all. If it is rifle length, can I cut it down or should I get another? Can I use a regular carbine spring with the FRS buffer?
Spent case using regular buffer and spring. The necks have a flat side. I take it thats from the short stroking and the spent rounds barely making it out.

AA states that "the spring may need to be cut down" if short stroking occurs.

Yeah I saw that, thanks. I am more curious about the spring I got with my buffer. Is that rifle length or carbine? Looks long enough to be rifle, but the coils are different than that of a regular spring.
