Friend of mine is wondering, so anyone who's got experience with em, sound off

The 5.56 upper I did for a friend (set it up with optics) seemed a tad heavy with the rail system.

The rail is not a conventional height (from what I understand).

Other than that, it is a good gun.

Anyone else?

Tell your friend to get LMT or LWRC.

Does LMT have a 308? That's what he's in the market for. Spits in the face of LWRC and PWS offerings.

I read here that POF does not honor their warranty on used uppers.  I have not heard that from them first hand but that could be easily be solved by a quick phone call or email.

Yep, the LMT MWS, basically an MRP but in 308.

I have a POF complete rifle in 6.8.  Love it!  The rail height is an issue for optics and the only thing I would change.

I should've been more specific; do they have a piston .308? The LMT site is only showing the MWS as a DI gun.

I thought this was a plenty of fish thread

No piston .308 for LMT, however, this is an MRP rifle, so if they come out with one, you could convert it. Can't see them NOT offering a piston in the future.

He spits in the face of LWRC ?  Is he a dufus?  I have five LWRC's, including a REPR in .308, and they all run like clocks.

POF's are just fine........So are the others mentioned here.

The POF does have a rail that sits about a 1/2" higher, but I like it. I'm tall, so I dont have to scrunch down as much, with my neck to gain the sights.  After using POF's for awhile, the regular rifles seem odd, but thats just muscle memory.

The POF's are very, very accurate too !!

Your friend will be happy !

Sold my POF and got a FN Scar 16s.  Been happy ever since.

Piston AR-10 variants aren't big yet it seems... Ever thought of maybe a M1A scout model in a troy stock? Just an idea.
