I'm new to piston AR's. I just got a used PWS upper (400rd count) and was going to put it on my Double Star lower. I there anything I should look out for?

I have a front grip on my MK114 and covers and have no problem with heat. All barrels get hot even my bolt guns. I do not put my hand on the barrel and I do not put it on the stove when it is hot. Then, when they expanded their uppers line and renamed it the "MK1 series" they ditched that make of barrel in late 2010 for a stainless 1 in 8 that is Isonite treated. I agree, that the heat issue is minor. It's like running an AK heavily, the piston tube and barrel will get warm enough to radiate out some heat to the user. |

I have not experienced any change in accuracy or POI at the range shooting from 50m to 350 or in a carbine class from 0 to 100. I've owned both the 1 in 7 twist DC-16 and my current MK114 with the stainless 1 in 8 twist Isonite barrel. With a TA31 they both printed approximately 1.3 inch groups at 100yds for me off of a bag rest with 55gr PMC or XM193. |
