I know I'm going to look stupid but if I don't ask I'll never know . What is the Mod 0 , and also what is DMR ? Thanks DMR stands for Designated Marksmen Rifle. Typically longer barreled rifle with an optic provided to a good shot in the squad so he can reach out accurately to distances carbine shooters can't. Have to guess on the Mod 0. Since the SPR is a brand new release, I assume Mod 0 means the first generation. To answer your OP, the SPR would be an ideal piston rifle. I love my M6A2 and this will be even better. I'd buy another one, but opted to broaden my collection a bit by getting one of those KAC / MagPul special edition gas guns. |

Yeah, the LWRCI SPR is officially designated the M6A2 SPR Mod 0 from LWRCI, affectionately known as the SPR. They make a DMR, too, with the older handguard and an 18 inch barrel. The first config for the SPR is 16, with more barrel lengths to follow over the next few months.
By the way, the first 10 to leave the factory are in route to dealers as we speak, so you aren't going to get owner feedback until...well, tomorrow evening after I pick mine up! :) |

MagPul did make some lowers a while back and they're collector's items at this point. The MagPul/KAC combo is all Knight's with key furniture and accessories from MagPul. I can only provide stock pics as mine is enroute from Sarasota to me in VA. Should be here Tues night and I have an appt with my FFL to get it.
Pretty nice rifle though, lots of work to keep the weight down and rifle comes in a hair over six lbs. My Triple Tap muzzle break is black as opposed to this one in the pic that's plain inconel that should darken with use. If you go to Gunbroker and search on SR-15 you'll see a Magpul and Knight's edition listed at $3400.00 |

Congrats on you're SPR Nineisfine ! Can't wait to see pics and hear all about it ! I didn't see a SPR DMR on LWRC's web page , and why would it have different rails ? I like the new SPR rails . Do you think they will make a SPR with the adjustable gas system like the A3 ?
Congrats to you also BigHat ! That sounds like an awesome weapon . Is it piston ? I was thinking of either Wilson or KAC before I decided to go LWRC . Mostly because I have a LWRC dealer close by and like there piston system and I haven't heard anything bad about them and they seem to be awesome on the phone . So any way I talked to LWRC on Friday . They said they have over 300 SPR's on back order and if I didn't mind waiting a couple months I could get on that list and get one . Then I called my dealer . He said he has a FEW coming in this week and if I wanted one it could be mine . I told him to put one aside for me and that I wanted mine to have the Magpul PRS stock on it . He said no problem I would just pay the difference between the two stocks . Now the problem . I went home and my gun loving friend told me that the gun will have no Flash Supressor but a perminetly attatched muzzle break . I am ashamed to say I freaking live in the communist territory of Massafreakingchusettes !!!! So , do I want a gun without the threaded barrel that it normally comes with ? What break will it have ? My friend said to get a Surefire break on it ? Or do I wait till I go to my old home state of FL next month and buy one there ? I thought I was all set just changing the stock . I guess not . I hate MA !!!!!!!!!! |

I hate MA !!!!!!!!!! KAC rifles are gas guns –– not piston. I'm a fan of piston guns but this debate gets so polarizing it's silly. Very high quality, super reliable gear is built on both systems. I like that piston guns run a bit cleaner, but having cleaned gas guns for 26 years in the Marines, they aren't really that painful to keep totally functional. Yea, cleaning them to inspection level would be a pain, but that's no longer an issue for me. I'd buy the rifle in FL if that's where you'll keep it, otherwise I'd follow MA laws. You're still under the assault weapson ban as I understand it, Romney reenacted it after it expired federally. Unsure exactly what you're eventually going to get, but the SPR has a 16 inch barrel. As that's a legal length on its own. the flash hidder or muzzle break can removed. Bottom line is you cannot buy any rifle with a threaded barrel in MA because you COULD add a flash hider. LWRC also makes 14.7 in barrels with permanently mounted flash hidders (16 in overall), but they're banned in MA if the rifle has a pistol grip and is magazine fed. I personally wouldn't worry too much about the A3 gas system if I was you. You planning on getting a ATF tax stamp to buy a suppressor? Can't have that at all in MA or you're definitely going to have to keep it in FL. As to what LWRC will eventually do with the SPR only they know. As they're likely to sell MANY of them in this configuration my bet would be that it will be awhile before variants start being discussed, but that's only my ill-informed opinion. |
