| Just installed my second Adam Arms piston kit this time on my dads Smith and Wesson M&P15 problem is with the adam arms bolt assembly in the firearm can not be cocked back it jams and as if the bolt gets stuck in the buffer tube, the stock one does not, i know its not the bolt assembly because when i put it in my rifle works perfect could it be something with the buffer tube? |
| Alright then, sounds like you're describing an alignment problem between the upper receiver and the buffer tube. If that's the case, then the S&W BCG must still be undersized compared to another brand carrier, or it would get stuck, too. Mic the o.d. of the Smith carrier and compare that to one of another brand. |

This is the first post that I have done here on your guys site and Love it. Anyway I just did my first conversion with a Adams Arms and I noticed the same thing compared to the DI bolt carrier in my RRA. I also did the same checks as you guys suggested. What I found out was the hammer was pushing up against the Adam Arms Bolt carrier and causing it to drag slight and causing the bolt to get stuck a little, just a slight tap and it came right back down. I was a little worried, but after going to the range today it seemed to work flawlessly. |
| I ran into the same issue with one of my lowers. The anti tilt bump on the rear bottom of the AA bolt carrier seems to bind as it moves back into the extension. I swapped out the receiver extension with a different one and all was fine. I then reinstalled the original and the problem did not surface. It apparently is a slight misalignment of or a undersize extension tube. Try backing off the castle nut and retightening it. |
| its the buffer tube, because after reinstalling everything same problem but when it was jammed i happened to lean on the tube while the rifle was sittng upsidedown on the bench on the top and it released the bolt from the jam, i have another buffer tube that im grabbing from my shop tomorrow that i will try im sure this baby will be working fine tomorrow finally. |

I am so sorry been super busy, i replaced the buffer tube and the rifle is cycling perfect, not sure why maybe slightly bent or just out of spec, im sending the stock buffer tube back to Smith and Wesson they said they will take care of it no problem, but the rifle is cycling like i said so i will just take the replacement and put it in the parts box for my next build.
Thank you everyone for the help and suggestions Alex |
