Wondering about the piston kits and functionality. I would like a coated bolt carrier group and have a polylithic upper so the hand guards that come in some kits would be a complete waste of money. Do the even make kits compatible for the Vltor vis? I know the Adams Arms and CMMG kits wont work.  Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Im not sure Im going to be any help but it would seem that the PWS one might be the only one that would possibly fit.  You may want to give them a shout.

I sent them an email, I had checked them out. I was uncertain if they actually sold conversions or just replacements for their rifles, since there wasn't a gas block in the kit...

I believe ranier arms is the only authorized people to perform the upgrade now.  It is pricey.  Their gas block is pretty low profile as to fit under their own rail.  I assume, but you know what happens then, but I would think the gas block on the retro kits are the same.

On a side note.  You may want to call Rainer and PWS heck even,  Addax used to sell them, they maybe able to give you good info.

The PWS piston kit will not fit under a Vltor VIS-1.

I had Addax retro fit the PWS piston kit on my 14.5" VIS-3 back when they were doing the installs. In order to make it work, I had to throw my upper in the bridgeport and mill off the section of upper rail where the gas block goes. Never touched the side rails, just trimmed off the upper section.

Sorry for the bad news.
