Here are a couple photos of my new PWS piston bolt.  Workmanship appears to be good and the bolt is "MP" marked.  The bolt comes complete with the ejector and extractor and also includes a pusher spring that keeps the bolt in the unlocked position when outside the receiver.  There has been much speculation about this spring helping relieve the stress off the locking lugs and helping with bolt longevity.  While there might be some validity to that, PWS told me that the spring is there to help make reassembly easier.  The extractor spring is very strong and the bolt came with a black O-ring included.  I see that the extractor is missing an insert.

No provision for gas rings.  Note the "MP" marking.

Beveled locking surfaces on the lugs.  Note the solid pin used to retain the ejector.

Radiused extractor.  Note the lack of "cat claw" edges.

Here's the entire bolt carrier assembly ready for use.  I have replaced the standard GI-type cam pin with a roller cam from POF.

I assume this is bolt in complete PWS/ADDAX uppers?

It might be with the uppers that are factory fresh and currently shipping.  My DC-12 came with a standard GI bolt minus the gas rings.  I have several AR's and don't have a spare bolt for any of them so I figured I'd put the GI bolt in the parts box and replace it with a PWS piston bolt.

About $100 complete.

No real advantage other than looking cool and being built for a piston system from scratch.  And it has the all-important MP test proof mark.

The PWS Piston Bolt is optional, it is not the standard bolt on our uppers.

We offer the PWS Bolt as a $39.99 upgrade on our Addax ATAC 5.56 GPU models.

The PWS Piston bolt is currently only being manufactured for 5.56.

Just emailed to have it added to the upper you are currently building for me, did not realize you could get it when ordering over the phone.

No problem, we will add the PWS Piston Bolt to your order.

We have the PWS Piston Bolt listed in the customization menus of all of our 5.56 models on our website.

Thanks,

Chris

Now if the bolt could be made without the hour glass look or completely solid before the tail as no gas is need inside the carreir theres really no need for the hour glass look as it doesnt function as a piston in DI operation..it would be more solid and I assume stronger.

Will the bolt spring be available for replacement or enhancement? I do not think my DC-7 has one. Going to check later.

Looks like the finish is chrome? What is the finish on the rest of the bc and piston? Was wondering why at least the piston on these long stroke pistons are not chromed for ease of cleaning. I've been thinking hard about the Diablo and

like what I've been hearing about this type of piston system. How dirty does the piston get and how hard is it to clean?

The new bolt is stainless steel, I believe.

The piston gets pretty dirty with carbon build-up looking like chewed bubble gum.  But the piston is Melonited and cleans up easily with Bore Tech C4 and a cloth.

Thanks for the info. I hear that finish is though like chrome. Don't know to much about it though. That's good it makes clean up easy. How are you liking everything else about that long stroke set up?

the carrier key looks like it needs to be steaked, i assume thats just as important as on a DI gun

The carrier key screws are staked from the top. There is a small channel on the top of the key, and the screws are staked and splayed into the edges of the channel to help prevent the screw from turning loose.
