I have an AA kit i bought back in October 08 on a 11.5 DPMS machine gun havey barrel. It is shot most of the time with an AAC M4-2000 on it.
After an outing which might be 3 to 10 mags I cannot move the gas plug without using some pliers. I have tried it dry and have tried different lubes doesn't seem to make a difference. Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes? |

Your gas block might have not installed at 12:00 TDC. If it is a little off either way the plug binds up in the rod. Loosen the gas block screws and move it until the plug moves freely and clean the plug once it is removed.
When I was installing mine, I tightened the screws only when the plug moved freely inside the rod. M50 |

What is the gas setting you are using? Is it in the 12 o'clock position or the 1 o'clock postion? Also how what happens with out the suppressor? Quoted: Block is straight up 12:00. Once I get it out and cleaned it turns fine only after a outing is it imposable to move without pliers. Like I said doesn't matter dry or lubed. |
| What handguard are you using? I just installed one with Troy battlerail non free float. I could barely remove the piston with the rail installed because the piston was binding on the insides of the rail. Some quick dremeling removed a few thousanths of an inch from each side and its fine now. |

Mine does the same thing, suppressed or unsuppresed. I think it is just carbon and junk gumming up the plug. It moves and rotates fine when it is clean, my block is 12:00, and the op rod is not hitting anything. If I only shoot a few rounds, the plug will still move freely with the detent depressed, but after a bunch of rounds, the plug just seems to get gummed up a little bit and is either really hard or impossible to adjust with my hands. It doesn't really effect me that much though, as I don't really adjust or mess with the plug until I am cleaning the gun. I usually leave the gun either suppressed or unsuppressed for the duration of my range trip, and if I need to change the setting and am unable to do it with my hands, I just use my multi-tool. If there is a fix for this, I would be interested simply for the sake of "ease of use", but like I said earlier....definitely not a deal breaker for me personally.
