Can I use a standard lower, and slap a GP Upper on it, with different BCG and should work, correct?

Yes, the lower isn't any different. You can use just about any 5.56 lower out there, set up with whatever parts you like. For the most part piston uppers only use a few parts different from your basic DI upper. I used a Mega lower with my former POF.
