Were the specs of the recoil springs used with edgewater buffers any different from the later/current spec recoil springs? I don’t recall there being different types, but just wanted to check. I just got a very nice, late edgewater and recoil spring that came out of a 1970 SP1. I noticed that even though the buffer shows very little wear that the recoil spring is about 1” shorter than my spare rifle length springs. A couple are NOS, USGI out of 1980s dated packages. |
| The old 64 manual that shows that buffer and list the spring's coil count, length, and outside diameter as the same as a later drawing does after the change to the newer buffer. The old manual did not list the wire diameter so I don't know if that might have changed at some point. |
