Were the specs of the recoil springs used with edgewater buffers any different from the later/current spec recoil springs?

I don’t recall there being different types, but just wanted to check. I just got a very nice, late edgewater and recoil spring that came out of a 1970 SP1. I noticed that even though the buffer shows very little wear that the recoil spring is about 1” shorter than my spare rifle length springs. A couple are NOS, USGI out of 1980s dated packages.

The old 64 manual that shows that buffer and list the spring's coil count, length, and outside diameter as the same as a later drawing does after the change to the newer buffer. The old manual did not list the wire diameter so I don't know if that might have changed at some point.

Okay, thanks. I didn’t think there were different springs, but wanted to double check. This short one must have just collapsed a bit due to being compressed in the rifle for the last 50 years.
