How do you tell the difference between a cast FSB and a forged one that has had the flashing removed?

It'll be obvious when you figure it all out.

^^^About 1/3d of the way down on page one are some good pics. Cast has raised "UP <-" verses engraved "UP <-" on the forged FSB. Cast has a smoother finish and crisp sharp edges.

Forged on left, cast on right.

Cast: Flat rear vertical, raised "UP"

Forged: Round rear vertical, stamped "UP"

Yeah, it's usually the sharp edges/ clean lines that give away a cast fsb. That and the previously mentioned difference between the "up" on the two.

A cast FSB will have a paper-thin "casting line" right down the center of the part. A forged FSB will either be ground smooth, or have a much wider "forging line" down its center.
