| Is there a diagram showing how to make 607 handguards from A1 handguards? I have a couple spare A1 handguards and thought about making a set. |

Well, you need that stamped metal end cap. Then it's just a matter of cutting the handguard and trimming back the heat shield. Or, if you don't mine not being totally authentic, you can just buy those short triangle handguards...
ETA: I got one of those end caps from Primary Industries. Don't know if they still make them. |

Here's a thread from a couple weeks back that should answer your questions http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_123/712247_607-hand-guard-how-to.html |

Standard carbine length.
If you have a mill, you could make one with some time and effort. I think somebody brazed one together from sheet metal before. If your good at shaping sheet metal, you could hammer one out maybe. The originals were stamped with a bracket brazed inside. Heatnbeat offers a very nice reproduction from what I've seen. Primary Industries had/has one that will work but isn't accurate. I don't know if anyone else is currently making them. |

Our own member, HeatnBeat (Jerrel) makes a perfect one for $50. Not cheap but there is none better.

Got with HeatnBeat and am in for one of his. I did a preliminary cut on one of the hg sets I have, gonna have to wait to final fit when I get the end cap. I don't much like fiberglass but these only have one ear missing.

| I am currently working on cad drawings of the 607 stock and handguards. are you using a repro rear stamped "cap" like the original? if so, I can give you my cad calculated length. i'm in the 607 build process too, and want to produce a complete set of drawings to post. |

He's going to use one of heatNbeats, not the cheaply made poor repop. The cheap knockoff has the large thru hole centered up, not offset to the top, which will call for a different cut on the handguards. Correctly made rear caps allow for very little deviation on the "cut/trim" job on the handguards. |

Had a little time this morning so I did a little trimming and fitting. Still have to cut the good hg's and acquire more parts for the build.

I just received my HNB end cap last week. Outstanding piece! Worth every penny. ETA: Does anyone have pictures of the insides of their finished 607 HG's? http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e248/hk45shooter/hnbcap2_zpsfmv2awxx.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e248/hk45shooter/hnbcap1_zpspjahxpt6.jpg Attached File Attached File |
