I need help finding parts to make a C7 Dissipator. My main concern is the barrel, as every dissi out there has an F marked front sight. Could I possible knock out the pins from a F marked front sight, and replace it with a non F marked front sight? Or would it be a better idea to just file down the front post? Another problem I run into is supplying the C7 upper in the first place, as I don't see them here on the EE or Gun Broker that much anymore. Any comments or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Windham Weaponry has 1:9 twist barrels in a Dissipator set up, both HB and M4 profile and they use the regular FSB.

Here is mine with a M4 profile barrel.

Sorry, I'm no help but here's a pic of my C7 uppered 605ish since I like sharing it anyway.

It's not a true dissipator though in that it has a gas block in the carbine position under the handguards.

A F marked FSB will work just fine with a C7 upper...

You'll just have to turn the front sight down a few clicks to get a zero...

I have a few rifles that I've built with slick side,A1 & A2 uppers and F marked FSB they shoot just fine...

I did the M4 barrel/ low pro gas block upper the handguards as well.  Double Star has/had  .625 FSB's that are A1 height (i believe). May be in stock at Brownells as well.

Since there's no such thing as a C7 Dissy, why worry about the FSB? I say screw it together and shoot it. Go 16" barrel instead of 15" and you can add a suppressor later. Just my .02

The hardest part of this whole evolution is finding a C7 upper without resorting to Rguns!!!

lol, I wish I could own a suppressor. Too bad Gavin Newsom thinks that it will make everyone an assassin.

YEP! What MORG said above.

PSA UPPER:
Barrel length 16"
4150V Chrome Moly Vanadium Barrel
Phosphate Finish
5.56 Nato Chamber
1 in 7" twist
M4 feedramps
Forged upper
Once upon a time, a "dissipator" AR was created by taking a 20" rifle-length gas system upper and cutting the barrel down to 16". This allowed the shooter to keep the long sight radius of a rifle for accuracy, but keep the carbine length barrel for maneuverability. The proximity of the gas port to the muzzle, however, played havoc with timing and made reliability a hit or miss proposition. Advances in AR technology have produced reliable carbine and mid-length gas systems, that can be hidden using low-profile gas blocks. This allows for a front sight base to be pinned in the rifle position for the longer sight radius without the worry of the unorthodox gas port location affecting operation. We use the term "mock" to differentiate our dissipator from a cut-down rifle length version.

Barrel: 4150V Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a 1/7 twist, M4 barrel extension, and a Mid-length gas system. This A2 style profile barrel is phosphate coated. Barrel is finished off with a pinned F-marked front sight post in the Rifle position with sling swivel, rifle length handguards, and an A2 flash hider.

Picture to follow soon.

What I ended up with after swapping the upper receiver to a C7.

C7 upper receiver.
A2 lower
A1 E-stock with trap door.
A2 hand guards
A2 pistol grip.

Yea, that's the exact build I'm trying to go with, but I'm going to have to put a fin on my A2 grip.

Windham still bitterly clings to standard FSB.  Great for clone building for non-flattops.

I don't believe Bushy/Windham ever had F-marked FSBs.

I had to go buy another camera.
Here is the picture of mine.
I plan on changing the hand guards to a set of Colts I have later.
