So I was having a barrel swapped to a different receiver the other day (fn a2 to an fn flat top) and I was talking to the guy about how I want to make a XM177E2 or an Airforce mix master / IDF clone but I need an A1 upper and was prolly gonna get rid of my a2 upper, since I already have 3 AR's and that's enough blah blah...well he pulls this out from his work bench and said "was gonna make an a1 but it's been layin around for awhile and I'll probably never get around to it"
Long story short, I got it for 50 bucks. It has a broken A forge mark and m4 feed ramps. My google foo hasn't come up with who made these things. (Meaning who finished them, I know the forge mark). Any help would be great, and yea guess I'm building another AR...

| Fairly current production commercial upper having the M-4 ramps. Lots of vendors had them from BM to Windham. Has been about all that's been available in this flavor (A-1 w/ deflector) for a few yrs now new. Still a great score at $50 as generally they were $125 stripped when new or even a couple coins more at places like Sarco and such. Make a real nice M16A1E1 build. Has a $20 commercial rear sight on it. My best guess would be BM production as I know where a couple just like it still reside factory boxed. Windham purchased and sold the last decent run of these I'm aware of in last year or two. Time flies! |

Wait . . . . you take your AR's to a gunsmith for a barrel swap???? Why don't you do it yourself??? The reason I didn't do it myself is , a lot of my things are still packed away. (I just came back from a deployment) so instead of waiting, I went ahead and had someone else do it. |

I am neck deep into 2 A2 builds right now, so my SP 1 is on hold anyhow... Ended up with a Colt for $175. Waiting on an 11.5" barrel to finish it up. |
