I have never heard of a, "no R" upper. But the Anchor Harvey forge code makes it look like all the other commercial C7 uppers sold in the last 5 years. There was an entire C7/C8 thread in the A2 forum that 2 Canadian military gentlemen had a lot of good information included.
ETA: Found the link in the Archives. Bummer. I loved this thread. C7 Thread |

AFAIK all Canadian issued C7 uppers are either Colt CH marked or have a Devtek with various forge codes. I've seen one variation that had a C and a Devtek, wish I had a picture of that one, iirc it had a Christmas tree style forge code. Normally on a Colt you tell that the R was removed with an end mill. All the Devtek marked uppers never had the R on the forging AFAIK.
I'm sure Rebel Rouser will be along soon with his .02 cents. He really seems to know a lot about some of the finer details. I'd say it's commercial but cool nonetheless. |

What Leg said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ BTW, "R" in French is short for "Reverse" so the R was deleted to avoid confusions for the French speaking Canadian Forces. |
