I'm no expert, but sure looks like a re-fin to me. Looks like spray paint in some of the pics.
The forge flash on the rear indicates something, but I'm not sure what. A2 port door? Could be replaced. Colt barrel? Two different gas key bolts, with different size hex sockets...probably related to the double staking. "Parts-o-caster" is what we say in guitar land! |
| Looks like a GM upper receiver with paint coming off. I'd hit it with solvent / paint stripper and that one might go through to gold. (Lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it). If you don't like gold, some people here do and might trade for something more what you are looking for. |

thanks for the reply's everyone. i picked up the complete upper in a trade , i just wanted the barrel assembly to complete my 733 upper. thought i might use the receiver as a start to an xm177 type build but it seems more appropriate for a 20" barreled upper. now that my "HEAT" gun is just about complete i have a few other projects in cue before my next retro build so i'm not sure what i'll do with the receiver. i guess i'll start a new post in the appraisal thread to figure out a trade or sale value on it.
thanks again for your help |
