Okay,

This may not be the most appropriate place to post this question.  But I wanted the input from my retro brothers.

In the below pictures.............there are three rifle buffers/buffer springs.
I recently was given the one on top.  The buffer is shorter and has a different color tip then my other two.
Also, not sure if its by design or not, but the spring appears to be either longer or just stretched out a bit?

Is there a difference with this shorter buffer?  Is it a rifle buffer?  Or is it something I am not familiar with?

Thanks

The red tipped ones replaced the edgewater a in '67. If the springs are shorter, they should be replaced. Springs are a wear item.

The top one looks to be a 308 rifle buffer and spring.

AR-10 buffer is shorter because the carrier is longer.
