Looking for help with the BCG.

Pretty sure the carrier itself is a 601 type.  Not sure if the bolt is more modern or?

What do you all think?

Thanks!

yep it's an early full round gas key 601 carrier w/ dot stakes.  the bolt is a later wide band bolt and the firing pin is much later/current design.  firing pin retaining pin is later too.  the cam pin hasn't changed so it may or may not be original.

Carrier is definately a Colt slickside,  could easily be model 01 but could also be 02 or 604 but regardless it's early 60's mfg first production carrier.  Bolt appears to be a chrome MP marked wide band.  Nor really seeing the P on bolt and M looks odd but possibly angle of photo.  Many times the P is faint at best.  Firing pin and retainer are modern production.

What BW777 said.  Late to the party!

Regardless it's a very nice score.  Should easily last another lifetime with a little maintenance.

judging by how dark that cam pin's finish is and the amount of wear in the area where it rotates I'm gonna say the cam pin is an original too.

And should be changed IMO.

Thanks guys.  This currently resides in my "prototype" replica and just wanted to know for sure what it was so as not to unintentionally BS any potential buyer.

But yes, that cam pin looks pretty worn.  I will admit I did not inspect in when I purchased this as a complete BCG on Gunbroker.

There is a P on the bolt, pretty easy to see in person, but i didnt take any photos that show it instead of the M.

I do appreciate the help!
