I was surprised by the sale price of this auction which I had been watching. End time was eastern and ended in the middle of the night for westcoasters so i think that might have contributed.  Anything else seem odd? Kinda feel like i missed out since i just paid $150 for a stripped one...

Thats auctions for ya, sometimes gold, sometimes average or below. Nice upper for a great deal!

Auction end time is what did it.

On gunbroker auctions, I get the most "bids" the first couple days, and then the last hour......

But I end them on a Sunday evening.

It's an SP1 upper, maybe that's why.

Should have set an alarm i guess. Oh well, i really don't need another rifle waiting to be anyway.

dang, I might have bid if I'd seen it.

I usually just search for "retro"  though

Occasionally, people snag great deals!  It's what keeps many of us scanning the EE and auction sites, even though we don't really "need" anything.
If I'd see that, I would have bumped it at that price.

As for it being an SP1 upper, that doesn't hurt anything at all.  Adapters will let it be used on any lower, and for someone trying to restore an SP1, that upper is worth more than a 603/604 upper.
Someone's feeling pretty good about that outcome!

There are two basic differences on an SP-1 upper, neither of which will affect function with a semi auto build.

1. pivot pin diameter, which can be fixed with a bushing or offset adapter pin
2. no auto sear relief cut on the underside of the upper

Actually, nice SP1 uppers can be found in the $80 to $110 range.Far as I'm concerned, that one sold in the right range.Being it has the forge codes makes it not quite as desirable as early ones.
