Found one of these at a small gunshow yesterday. I believe it is one of the DPMS repros rather than an original.

Don't have any way to post pics but I can email one to any one in the know.

Thanks

How hard are these to find?  Kinda cool.

original one is pretty rare.  you will need to get your own buffer tube to run a normal ar15/m16 carrier as the original used a different fire control group and carrier for the open bolt setup.

dpms ones don't come up often but i wouldn't say they are rare.  they tend to sell in the $100-$150 range when they do come up.

Thanks for the info. I have the DPMS. I read up a little and found that the original used a multiple recoil spring system.

Just wondering.... Would one of these fit a S&W MP15-22? Would make a neat range toy!

it should fit the mp15-22 if it's threaded for a standard buffer tube.

I've got one of those!!!  The DPMS version though.  I'm it on my "PDW" shorty AR.

I know; not very retro.

But in researching the stock, I found these cool photos:

When I purchased the stock, I had a cool "what if?" carbine planned, but I decided I didn't want to shell out for a second tax stamp on a second SBR.  You can see what I was thinking with this photo:
