| Couple of years ago, someone got an acceptable 601 green paint mixed at home depot and posted pictures of the paint can with the mix on the label. Anyone got a pic of that saved? |
| I used the testor's "FS(something)" od model paint. It was an awesome match, but really needs to go on over brown Rustoleum primer, and maybe a clear coat of satin. It was really good looking, but nicked off easily. If I redo a 601 again, I will use primer and top coat. |

Ive found air dry ceracoat (OD green) to be a close match. (its just as close as testors IMO, but more durable by far).
As for the underneath brown paint. I used epoxy dyed brown and made a layered finish with, sanded smooth. That was topped off with brown (ceracoat, or possibly alumnahyde? its been a while). This stuff will come off with a grinder only. Solvents wont effect it. That set of h/g's took weeks to finish. The effort is 100% worth it. It might be a shade off.. but if your whole set of furniture had that finish it would very durable and fool most everyone.
