I saw a crappily cobbled together AR this weekend.
The upper however was a black unmarked C7 type. It had no marks on the carry handle rear sight tower. I have seen real ones marked D K (Diemico Kaiser), and I am not sure how Colt marked there A1 uppers with brunton bump (which is what I am really looking for) anyway this upper also did not have the " splintered A" or A over H for Anchor Harvey. It appeared to have no markings what so ever. It was anodized black and was on a Olympic arms lower. Also it had a poor drill additional hole in the carry handle!! Anyone know where I can get a real colt M16A1 upper WITH Brunton bump??? OldDirtyAR |

An unmarked C7 may very well be Colt IIRC. The extra hole in the top of the carry handle was done for eye relief, and I have a pic somewhere which shows it. That used to be a 'high-speed' modification. My memory is failing me, but I am 99% sure one of the C7 uppers I had was unmarked, and I was assured it was Colt. Can't believe I can't remember this.
ETA: Here's a pic of an A2 upper with same mods. I seem to remember someone saying that they may have experimented with this at the factory - I just don't recall. Does it look like this? I was actually considering drilling an upper like this. Note that the holes look anodized.
