Folks, I picked up an M16A1 parts kit several years back and just pulled it out to take a look at it. It's mostly Colt, upper and bolt carrier, but the barrel's got me puzzled. It's a standard A1 thin profile, with a late (72-82) Colt forged FSB ,and is obviously chrome lined bore and chamber but it has no marking save one - a little tiny "C" on the underside just in front of the bayonet lug. I've looked on retro black rifle and couldn't find anything on this. I've checked every part of the barrel that isn't covered by the FSB or inside the upper receiver. Anyone out there have an idea? Here's a photo - http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af351/rudd2336/100_2282_zps6ddc0e5c.jpg Since there are NO other markings I was just curious. recent production citadel barrel. |

So, I take it this is a civilian barrel and not a replacement unit? Is that correct? Disregard. I looked them up and some good stuff, some not so good. yeah commercial made barrel for the civilian market. came along much later after the military transitioned off that profile. |
