I've got a retro build in the works ( 2001-3 is retro, right? ) that often used the LSO pistol grips: an early GWOT Colt M4 carbine as used by CAG. Ive got the custom "gangsta grip"  vert grip with integrated Surefire 6P and early M4 stock with buttpad, but the grip is bugging me!

I am also curious if an LSO grip would be accurate to put on my BHD-Era 723 clone, or if that would be too early for LSO?

There was a post about LSO in the fall that must be in the archives now, but  I'd really like to score a couple of grips. If anyone has an idea about where to find any, please let me know. Happy to buy or barter. Thanks.

Will

Really? I need to buckle down then. Ive been doing regular Google searches (which usually picks up EE posts) for a while but I guess I need to spend more quality EE time...

Usually a member will chime in with one or two.  Not me though!  Patience.

LSO grips were common in the 1990 to 1992 era.  A lot of people liked them because they filled the hand better and had a storage area for misc. spare parts.

ETA: thanks for the Numrich lead 44Echo10!

So then they would be also be accurate for a BHD-era 723 clone as well, huh?

Sure why not? BHD was in 1993 correct? I could see a Delta Operator liking the LSO grip.

I am looking for a pair of the LSO rifle lentgh handguards for a build. I had a pair and sold them like a idiot. If you got a set let me know. They are thinner in diameter than A2 handguards.

I dig that the dude on the left in both pics has the LSO mounted as a fore-grip.    - Like OP mentions

Lone Star grips go back at least into the late 80's. I think I still have an A1 style Lone Star grip before the A2 ones came out. Some of the ones I got back then had to have the grip screw hole adjusted because they did line up perfectly with the lower threads.

I'm pretty certain that Lone Star was one of the earliest aftermarket accessory manufacturers, dating back to at least the early 1980s, if not the late 1970s.

Can't remember how far back but I used to have one of the catalogs they put out and used to order handguards and grips from them.
