trying to post picture of two GE M61a1s on shipping cart at Danang 1969 IE learn how to post pictures so I can post picture of John Thomas art work my now complete edge water buffer he made the long part and installed my cap and springs.

That is the 'Vulcan' right? Thought they were 20mm. Someone described it as sort of a grunt noise too.

Thought they retrofitted those to the F4, as they originally thought it was too fast to need a gun....

Yes that is the Vulcan the Air Force used them in Suu 16 and SUU 23 gun pods on the F4C and F4D usually on the center line mount. The F4E had the gun internal in the nose and yes they were 20 MM. The pods would carry about 1240 rounds and the nose cannon in the E model carried about 640 rounds. pilots said you  roll in squeeze trigger and release as you were off target that fast.
