Does anyone know of a member that has their FFL and a
CNC machine or Bridgeport that can reprofile a 100% A2 lower into an A1 ??

Thanks in advance,
BC

Just get in line for a lower from Nodak Spud.  It'll probably cost the same, or less, as sending your lower out for reprofiling.

I did one once...that was a pain in iThe ass, even with a rotary table...

Or start with an 80% lower, then send it to Braceman, then get it finished and anodized. (Steps 1 & 2 complete; thanks John!)

things to consider..........if you reprofile an A2 it will need reanodizing, unless you just plan on coating the whole thing with some kind of paint/etc. If you were going to have it reanodized I would start with an 80%'er. That way you can have any authentic engraving you want.  The downside of an 80%'er is that it will not hold resale value like a "commercial" receiver. 80%'ers will probably cost more to complete, but IF you are going to have the one you have reanodized then that will negate much of the cost difference.
I've gone the 80% route, and I like that choice, but that's just my opinion, and we know what those are like.

How much $ will one have in a lower that starts as an 80% lower, then re-profiled to "retro" style, engraved with "retro" markings, and then anodized?

I'll throw this out there, but it won't pinpoint the cost because of a couple things.........1st, an 80% lower from Tactical Machining or Ares Armor is 84 bucks.
                                                                                                                                       2nd, I machined and engraved mine myself............so there's a big chunk of change that I don't know
3rd, I sent my lower, an upper, a 607 buttplate and a couple small parts for the 607 stock, AND a buffer tube to US Ano and all of those parts were 250 dollars to anodize in type III.    I'll have to see if I can find my paperwork to get a cost on just the receiver........but I THINK it was around $100...........mabey I shouldn't even say that without knowing for sure. I think that a receiver is on their pricelist though.
In comparison.......a commercial lower can be had for what.........85-100 dollars...........then the cost to reprofile..........plus anodizing..........and after that you are left with a lower that has other then "somewhat original" engraving.
I suppose it really depends on what you're building and how close to original you want it to be.

its pretty easy to have $300 in a finished 80% A1 lower.

but its not like you have a extra $300 when you die if you don't do it.

lol....good way of putting it hotdog250.  Sitting here thinking.......a commercial receiver ........about 100 dollars, cost to reprofile......???????.........probably about 100 bucks. ( I know from the length of time that it took me to reprofile my 80%, which came A2 configuration, that I wouldn't do it for any less.........and the cost to reanodize being $100 or so........
looks like a "wash" to me.

Braceman has a list of prices depending apon what model you want,
Fence , no fence, engravings etc.... For a. 80% lower,It  all comes down to the engravings, at least in my
Opinion.
A 80% lower engraved to match the original is about as close as you can get.
And it also lets you have a little fun with serial numbers, logos, etc,,,
Member here have done some neat stuff.

If the engravings aren't that important to you , and add in the cost of
Having the lower finished and than milled....I would suggest get on nodaks list for a A1,
Maybe use a A2 lower in the meantime.

That kinda shit would be a pain in the ass even for a 5 axis mill. Starting from scratch is easiest. I did a few lowers for someone once, by hand. Never, again. Results were marginal at best. Customer wasn't happy, I wasn't happy. In steps NDS and I have never looked back.
