The rest of the parts before re-anodizing. Lower is a NDS-XM16E1. Lower Parts kit is DPMS-

Sent the lower to Orion Arms for SBR engravings-

All the parts after being re-parked/re-anodized-

Here's what I have so far. Waiting on the Barrel/Gas tube/Handguards/ Buffer and spring from Specialized Armament and just order the baseplate for the buffer tube. Stock is also Original Aluminum Colt I got off EE-

Still waiting on the stamp. Sent it out about 4 months ago, so I still have 2-4 left.

Here's a photo of the one I built about a year ago-

Great stuff.  Looks like it'll be a build to be proud of!

(But, dude, your wife is gonna be pissed about her towels!)

I totally agree, I love my modern stuff, but it's hard to beat this little Jungle bunny. Here's a video of me shooting the one I already built-

Got the receiver end plate in the mail today. Now I just have to throw the barrel/gas tube etc on there from Specialized armament and it will be good to go.

I'm stationed at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA. However, my home of record is still in FL. So I set my trust in FL and registered the gun there. Then I submitted a 5230.20 to bring the gun to Georgia. I'll do the same with this gun once the stamp comes back.

I love Georiga, however my family is in FL so when I ETS out of the Army next year I'll most likely move back down there.

Good video ! One day I'm going to try that on my 607, I'll probably have to change the H2 buffer but aside from that it should be quiet.

Wish I could do one.

I'm kind of working on one of these, but will use a rifle stock instead of collapsable... Oops!

Has that been ghetto rigged or was there an actual factory carbine that came like that?

To my knowledge the XM177s were never produced with the full stock from the factory. I have however seen several photos of it in this configuration. It was probably one of those things where the original lower broke or something so they just slapped the upper on an XM16E1/M16A1 lower.

The rumor is the rifle buffer helped with reliability and it was a real simple thing to get a rifle lower in the field.

Is that one of those 25 round magazines? Full curve?

Early 30 round, full curve.  The one I'm currently looking for... Looks awfully nice in a carbine.

At first fixed stock carbines turned me off - they just looked odd - then I tried one. I love the ergonomics. I am once more planning an E1 build - although going back to my plans for a middy E1 is tempting. With a GP style sling, they handle perfectly IMO. If I build an E1 it will have a fixed stock. The rifle buffer is nearly identical in weight to a 9mm buffer. I just picked up another rifle buffer to modify to a 4.6 oz weight per a members directions - figure it might work well in the 605 and maybe too in a build like this.
