Newbie here.
I found a couple of vintage XM3 bipods with Colt markings (riveted not c-clip) and there is surface rust on them up near the rivet point (which seems typical), but my question is I'm thinking of refinishing them to the authentic color/finish.
If I buy them they're $70ea, and then getting them refinshed.   Good idea ?

What was the original color and finish used on them ? I'm assuming it's not as simple as taking a spray can to them (God forbid).
Any suggestions on where I can get this done at (contact infor whould be great !!)

Or is it not worth it and I should look for better parts ?

Thanks in advance.

That seems pretty pricey. I paid around $30 for my unissued bi-pod in it's '68 dated carrying case a few years back.

Gunnyssurplus has them for $40 with nylon pouch and possibly no rust.  Should be easy enough to clean though.  Some like him and some don't.  He has always sent me what I ordered unlike many vendors out there.  I'd recommend a call before hand.  Might even get one without a rivet if desired.
