I finally took some quick pictures of my SP1 I picked up. I know it's a retro sin not to put up pictures even though it's a regular SP1. It was made in 1982, someone had already swapped the birdcage for a 3 prong. I went through it to make sure nothing else had been "liberated" along the way. Everything else looks like it's there.
It even had some cleaning kit pieces in the butt stock trapdoor. 3 rod sections, the patch eyelet, and a well-loved chamber brush and the dingy clear plastic wrap. The stock has 2 small cracks on the butt plate. I switched out the stock for a non-trapdoor set and put on a different set of hand guards to bang around. The factory furniture was in nice shape. It has some etching numbers on the upper receiver, the shop said it was a police rifle at one point. I'm guessing whoever sold it to them told them that, I have no way to verify, other than it looks like it wasn't shot much.
Edit: The buffer on this has green looking anodizing and a pad that's almost mustard colored.
Here is is, along with my 604 and Gau-5. I know the GAU has an A2 lower, but it's gray and has a prancing horsey on it. Can't help it.

Very nice! There is something very "honest" about SP1s. Unfortunately in Kalifornia, possessing an SP1 not registered before 1990, is a FELONY> I had an SP1 Carbine registered, but sold it when I went out on disability in 1999. Wish I still had it. ENJOY!
