I was looking to buy a vintage (what other kind are there?) Colt scope for my 604 clone.  I was directed to a seller who had several NIB, described as 4x21 (no photos).  I was assuming a typo, but found that there is a 4x21 and made in Japan.  The one I was seeking was a 4x20 made in USA.  When did the 4x21 scopes come out?  They have an additional adjustment knob on side.  I do not think this is what I want.

There are a lot of 'clones" and look-alikes out there––mostly Chinese and mostly crap.

The only US-made "Colt" scope was the early 3x.  Later 3x units and the 4x unit (4x20, not 4x21) were made in Japan.  None of them are truly a great optic, but if you want something "original", you need to be sure what you're looking for.
A good starting point is retro black rifle.

This is like the one I almost - and fortunately did not - bought.
