| I have looking at the cobray 37mm launches to mount on my retro ar, however what type of mount do I need to get it close to the barrel as the original m203? I asked this in the general ar section but got no real responces! |

I asked this in the general ar section but got no real responces! I'm not all that familiar with either of those, but wasn't the M203 mount integral??? And the Cobray hangs down with a couple of round clamps??? I think you'll have to get a fabricator to make up a couple mounts to get it up close and under the M203 heat shield/handguard... Or are you going for the retro predecessor to the M203??? (The model number escapes me right now...CRS syndrome...)
Several members here have the older heat shield/handguard, and they show up on GB/Sturm occasionally... |

I asked this in the general ar section but got no real responces! The older ones used the same mounting bracket as a M203. The steel barrel bracket has a white colored heat shield that is in two pieces that I think was made of ceramic. The base mounts under the handguard slip ring. All that is covered up by the M203 handguard. Not sure if current production ones use the same. If you are going for the real deal look, you might want to check into a M203 receiver with a 37mm barrel. As long as it's never had a 40mm barrel on it, it's a regular title 1 firearm. It will cost a lot more than the Cobrey 37mm though. |

here is what i am refering to as the mounting that i cant seem to find on this topic in this section was much high er on the barrel http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=423355 Yeah, that is pretty ugly...but I bet it could be raised up by ditching that bar with the lettering on it and mounting directly to the 37mm barrel/action assembly...Yes, machine work required...
