So, I finally got home this weekend, and had a chance to look at my C7 upper again. I think I mentioned that I have all the parts except a tax stamp for a 733 build, and it's basically a simple barrel swap between the 6933 upper I have and this one, which has a 10.5" barrel on it right now. Sorry I don't have pics, but what's interesting to me is the details. It's got Colt acceptance marks, but no FORGE markings. It's grey, not black, and has rifle ramps, not M4. It also has a teardrop FA. I am thinking it's an M16A1E1 upper. It is really in beautiful shape, and will make the perfect 733 IMO, but I was wondering if anyone had ever run across one like this. The lack of forge markings kind of threw me, and no, it doesn't have splintered A either, nor does it look to me as if it's been refinished. Wish I had the rest of the upper it came on, since the barrel was likely an FN 1:7 A1 profile 20" but hey, now I won't feel bad at all making a 733 out of it, cooler yet, and hey, it's still all Colt. Just wondering if anyone had seen one like this. The 10.5" barrel on the Colt flattop should make a nice MK18 upper that I can swap out when I feel like it. I just need to make time to get my trust setup - found a place to do it for $50. I have three uppers to take apart - reassemble now - think I may come up here again next weekend and do that.
