Aside from the tick-selector and A2 pistol grip, are the rest of the parts in a modern lower parts kit good to go for a Colt 653 build? (Retro Black Rifle doesn't have much to say on the subject.)

Other than them being black instead of gray, of course.

Thanks.

You will need a gray mag button, gray trigger guard, and gray bolt catch. You can do the naval jelly trick on everything except the trigger guard and mag release button. The FCG,bolt catch and all the pins can be turned gray with naval jelly. Most people get DPMS LPK.It comes out a nice shade of gray after applying the naval jelly.

+1

I have also used M&A LPK's with naval jelly treatment and they came out great. A little lighter grey than I intended, but a little grease darkened them up perfectly.

Keep an eye out in the EE, you're bound to find some of the grey aluminum parts that RG mentioned above (unless I find them first)

Ok, thanks. So no divots or dimpled parts, I take it. Basically the same as a late 603.

Si, estabien. I believe boywonder777 has some grey TG's - could be wrong. If you don't have Naval Jelly, toilet bowl cleaner works fine. Just make sure you rinse the parts well and dry them. (Hydroflouric acid)

A2 grip? I don't think I've seen a Car15/653  type with the A2 grip. I used an A1 on mine. So an A2 would be correct as well?

An M16A1 Carbine (R653) would use an A1 pistol grip.

The only difference between the earliest RO723s and late R653s were the A2 flash suppressor, 1/7 barrel, "ticked" selector, and A2 pistol grip.

I think you misunderstood my original post: I said aside from the A2 grip. I already have a very nice NIW A1 grip standing by.
