Here are a few items I've picked up over the last couple of weeks. I'm most happy about the shorty M56 pouch. The helmet I only bought because the sweatband that was in it was a very early WWII piece that was perfect for another helmet liner I have.

Man, why can't I ever find gear that has such clear ink stamps?

I have an original late VN era helmet like that (made in 1971) along with two nylon M61 mag pouches for the M16A1; the older canvas ones were onyl made in 1968, so they are not that many out there.

Very nice low mileage gear.  The real nice easy to read date stamps usually cost a little more.  Glad they went to a nice retro home.  Was that the $26 shorty?

Ooooooooh NICE double wire buckle sweatband!!!!!!.. Now you're talking my lingo!!!  I've got 2 minty ones left I didn't know I had after selling off my WW2 helmet collection.75 or so of all different variations, but strictly WW2.Think I still have some rayon napes and sweatbands too.

Awesome, now I must take picture of my own VN era helmet.

ANd as a bonus my original 69 dated coton poplin ripstop top and 68 dated cotton poplin pants.

The shorty M56 was $20 and it came with a standard M56 pouch. I'll be listing some of my extra retro pouches on the EE in a couple days.

Nice eyes on the sweatband! I wasn't sure anyone hear would appreciate it so I didn't post pics of it. It was a had-to-have item. I have Hawley helmet liner that it will be perfect for. Pretty strange that a sweatband from 1942 found its way into a 1975 or newer helmet. Wouldn't be the first time to see something strange and out of place when it comes to militaria though...

OP - remove the shell from the liner and spray that sticker on the front with WD-40 - really soak it down and leave it alone for 1/2 an hour or so and it'll come right off with a paper towel or rag. Nice gear!

The Specialist 5,6,7,8,9 grades were originally created for the Army Security Agency.  Later a few other MOSs like medical adapted the rank. Nobody ever held the rank of Specialists 8 or 9.

I know my uncle was a Spec 5 when he left Vietnam in 1969; he was assigned to the 101st Aviation Bn. of the 101st Air Assault. I have a pic of him getting his Bronze Star with V Device while wearing them.

Cool pic. Is that a PRC-25? Where did you find that? Does it work still?

With all the retro gear everyone here has, it would be fun to get together, form an arfcom unit, and perform a combat re-enactment.

Edited for Spelling

Johnluger.  Nice pics.  Somebody's kid I presume almost looks a little out of place amongst the old timers.  In reality it would have been the other way around with one old timer and a bunch of kids.  Nice retro gear.

It's all fun and games until some old fart throws his back out.

You guys look much too clean to be authentic.  You need to roll around in the mud and water buffalo poo for a while and then take some pics.  A little dab'l do ya!
