| Was taping magazines in vietnam popular, or is it just hollywood stuff. Taped 20 rounders seem to be just about the same length of a regular 30. Does anyone have pics? |

During the Ichord Subcommittee hearings, Rep. Bray mentioned that he saw several soldiers in Vietnam with taped magazines, including one with six magazines taped together! ![]() A guy in a gunshop a little while ago said that he used to tape 5 30 round mags together. I've shot an M4 with a Beta C mag under it, 150 rounds would be rediculous. Dustin |

BTW, never saw two F-4s taped together... ![]() Years ago in a model airplane magazine I remember seeing a kitbashed model someone made of a hypothetical "Twin Phantom" a la the Twin Mustang. Wish I could had the pictures now. Of course such a beast was never conceived of in real life. |

We would always get some doofus who would tape a a couple or three mags together. After the first time they had to hit prone quickly and found out they had destroyed a mag or two, they stopped taping mags. The Israeli system which holds two mags together at right angles looks like a good idea. That way you are not slamming your feed lips into the ground when shooting prone.
My experience has been that you can drop a mag and slam in a new one about as fast as you can reverse taped mags. |

The Israeli system which holds two mags together at right angles looks like a good idea. The Israeli setup only holds one mag, with a false magazine then inserted into the magwell. The suggestion I heard was that this made it somehow safer for service members to carry their duty weapons where ever they went, as they didn't have to have a magazine loaded at all times. They could then rapidly load up if need be though. |
