Been looking around for a while but don't remember seeing anything on aluminum moderators.  At the risk of being considered totally stupid, could aluminum be useable for a 607 type moderator?  I made a steel  4" slip over for a turned down 11.5 barrel but it seem very heavy.  Remember, try not to hurt my PC feelings, ya sure!!!  Dave

I have not tried an aluminum moderator personally, but I've heard of people who tried using aluminum and then had problems keeping them screwed tightly on to the barrel.

The reason given has something to do with the different rate of expansion between aluminum and steel during heating and cooling cycles

maybe someone here has some hands on experience with this and will offer up their wisdom on the subject

i have a homemade reverse fake moderator on a faux 607 . i've got it so hot i had to carry it by the sling, the grip was too hot.(its not mag dumps, mark. its sustained suppresive fire)
it has never came loose, and it has no wrench flats, its hand tightened.

I had an aluminum slipover and had problems with the threads giving a bit when you cranked it down, and it wouldn't stay on.  YMMV

Is any one offering reproductions of these right now?
