sorry GC but those are XM moderators...the OP asked about 607 moderators, and while similar they differ in that they don't have flash hider slots and are only 3.5 inches long

Except the 607 could be had with a three-prong (very early), 3.5" solid moderator (majority) or a 4.5"slotted moderator (very late); depending on when it was made.

I was just reading about it.  The 3.5 came about because the three prong wasn't hiding much flash at all and there were some cycling issues.  The 4.5" was developed to correct a yawing problem with tracers and to further reduce flash.

but if someone is asking for a "607 moderator", the vast majority would immediately think of the 3.5" as that was the most common on that model, I mean if he wanted to know where to get an improved 3 prong or a 4.5" XM type moderator that's what he would of asked about...right

More can be made, the lack of demand was why I didn't make more of them.
I'll make another small run when time permits though.

Has anyone actually seen and examined a real XM-607 moderator??? Not pics, but in hand...

I have TBR 1, and have looked at pics of Reed Knight's collection...and notice that there is quite a few variations of the "XM-607 moderator"...

Be that as it may...Back in '04 or thereabouts, when TSI (the original TSI) was still in business, I bought a 607 buttstock assembly from them, and handguards + caps from Hay River Dist (I think that was its name)...and made my first XM-607...

To top it off, I bought a moderator from a member here...This was back before there was a Retro Forum...We all hung out in the Build It Yourself Forum back then...

The member said it was an exact copy of an XM-607 mod...There are visual differences, but back then I was between milling machines/lathes and couldn't make my own...

Here's a few pics of it...The muzzle end has an inverse taper...and the back end has a very small chamber...

I've looked at pics of a "cutaway moderator", and the inside of that is very different...two-piece body welded together, expansion chamber, holes, etc...

But since there was more than one style, and TBR writes that the original mod only dropped the noise level 1 or 2 decibels...and the mod was designed to reduce the sharp bark in enclosed spaces...

So,,,What I am wondering, since the inverse taper would be difficult to machine and unlikely for an unscrupulous villain to make for questionable profit, is this a copy of some actual XM-607 moderator???

looks more like a copy of the 4.5 inch that hasn't had the slots milled yet

The few aftermarket mods I've looked at had a straight bore, not a taper...This bore tapers from 3/4" to 5/16" over 1" of length...

In use, it functions more like a flash hider than a moderator...(think Enfield Jungle carbine)...

I have seen real ones and Bricks look pretty good. Postino, yes I have inspected a real military property 607 moderator and may have some photos around here someplace. Was there something you wanted to know? Edit - OK I read your post more carefully and looked at the pics. I would say whoever did your moderator had never seen the real deal. Picture a moderator about 3.5" OAL with a counterbore of about .500 Dia x .25 deep at the muzzle. Also the moderator will have the same features at the breach end as the 177 type as made by Brick or anyone else who is doing a nice job.
