Hi Guys,
My buddy sent me this picture and asked me if I knew anything about a Colt marked this way..I don't. This is the only picture that he sent me.  Apparently he is considering buying the rifle.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Rob

That's a 601.

If he can send/post the other pictures we can tell him if it is all original or not.
There has been at least one "601" for sale lately that was advertised as all original that had incorrect (and much cheaper valued) parts.
Original handguards have run $1000 lately.
The one advertised had $25 handguards on it.

Thank you guys. My buddy has an FFL and deals mostly in machineguns so who knows where he came across this thing.

I'll try to get more info tomorrow.

Thanks again very much.

There's another one on Sturmgewehr right now.  SN in the 13k range. It has black furniture, but no way to tell from the photos if they're black over brown.  It may very well be a type "B", though.
There's no good pic of the right side of the upper.
The price ain't bad for a transferable rifle, though.

You might notice the pic links are messed up.  For instance, you gotta change "...Lisa%201.JPG" to "...Lisa 1.JPG".

The selling dealer is the same guy I'm buying mine through.  10wks and still waiting for the first transfer to clear. I was concerned about that but my local dealer checked with ATF and confirmed the Form 4 is being (slowly) processed.
No choice but to wait patiently!

A German buddy saw the above photo and told me that they are allowed to own AR15 or M16's so long as they are marked as 223 cal rather than 5.56mm.  Something about the govenment assuming .223 is civillian and 5.56 is evil military.  Anyhow, since sear removal over there is sufficient to make it semi-auto, he has realized that he can own a Colt 601 (minus the sear) and register it as a generic semi-auto.

I just got my latest on May 27th and it took 122 days.
Boy was it fun this weekend!
We went through over 500 rounds of 5.56 in 1 afternoon.
I'm going to go broke feeding it!

Congrats!
My concern is this is just the first transfer (MN dealer to PA dealer). Then I have to start the wait again to get it from the PA dealer into my anxious little hands!

It's a gubbernment conspiracy, I tell you.

Form 3 transfers are normally faster than Form 4s.
Expect around 120 days for your Form 4.
That can be the LO N G E S T 4 months of your life.
