| Looks all good to me also. No bayonet lug, A2 flashhider, 6 hole carbine handguards, delta ring and the upper looks good. If it has a bolt and carrier they will be marked MPC and C respectively. Nice upper. Even better if you can buy it, or already have bought it at a good price. |

I think the top hand guard is a Colt and the bottom one is a replacement. What do you think? Absolutely right! Good catch there RLR, definitely mismatched handguard halves. AND, a perfect opportunity for folks to see the difference and learn something, maybe.

If you look at the second picture with the Delta ring in view. The finish is different on the top and bottom guard. Normally I'd write that off to the photo. Look at where the top ridges roll over ot down into the delta ring area.
Later pictures of the bottom, one near the FSB and one near the front lug of the receiver show that same area on the bottom clearly stops before it gets to the end of the hand guard. There are also some subtle differences in the way the side ribs intersect with the horizontal rim on each hand guard, Colts go in with a 45 degree. Some after markets intersect with a 90 degree. Hard to explain - I can find some pictures later if you need it. (Kind of like if you were putting your base moulding in a house and using 90 degree joints in the corners instead of 45 ing them.) With this said, just because those things match only make it more likely to be Colt, but looking inside the hand guard itself would confirm it. The shape of the heat shields and the way the molding around the Delta ring area are giveaways. |

Might just be that one handguard is old, and the other is a newer replacement. Wouldn't have to be Colt - more than one producer for replacements. Forge codes on the upper receiver indicate Colt Harvey Forge; typical A1 forging, could be 70s or 80s, but not Canadian as no Diemaco "D" marking. |
