Are you talking about the windage knob? No, the windage knob is on the right side. IIRC the slotted part on the left side (as shown in M1Snipers Colt 3x pic below from Retro Black Rifles) is where the factory puts in the erector/crosshair assembly. It is not a user adjustable item.

Sadly, that's always the part that gets boogered up on these scopes...
