How do I verify that all of the components on my old Colt SP-1 are original?

How close to a Vietnam Era M16 is this gun (other than its semi-auto, of course)?

Lastly, what is the approximate street value of this gun?

Better & more pictures. From that picture everything looks OK, but pictures of the other side & the internals would help out a lot.

The COC prohibits asking the value of guns & parts here in the retro forum.

It has a larger (2 Piece) front takedown pin
Semi auto Fire control group and bolt

Other than that, there is no difference.

It also has a slab side lower receiver (similar to a 601 or 602) instead of partial fence or full fence lower.
The upper is similar to a 604.

Below are links to more info so you can compare them for yourself:
Colt R6000 SP1 <- this is what you have

Colt Military Rifles
601 and 602 were "pre-Vietnam War" Advisor rifles.  603 XM16E1, 603 M16A1, and 604 M16 are your typical Vietnam Era M16s.

Great info.  Thanks!

How rare/desirable are late model Colt R6000's?  My serial number is 164xxx.

Not really rare.
They're still fairly common.
They're still desirable, but not as much as an earlier SP1.

You can ask pricing HERE.
Or check GunBroker for ended auctions of later SP1s.

Thanks for the help.

I noticed that my serial number is off the chart on RetroBlackRifle.com (#164xxx).   Does that just mean it was made in 1982?

It was made sometime after 1982 but before they quit making them in 1984.

the tacked SP1 database at the top of the page says that the '82-'83 split was  in the 173xxx range which should put him safely in '82....no?
