I bought a striped S&W lower today.
Looking to build a gun that will be on target at 200yds ... is that realistic ?

I need a trigger kit next ... basic nothing fancy.

I'm Ca so I'm worried about getting something that may get me in trouble.

Basic stock , open sights for now. With the option of a scope

Need advice , Thanks

There are several lower parts kits you can consider. The fire control parts are included in such a kit. PK Firearms is a reputable dealer and has a good selection here: AR Lower Parts Kit

Do research at Calguns.net to find out how to build a California legal AR rifle.

For a basic stock, look at either an A1 or A2 type. Choose what best fits your shooting stance (the A1 stock is a little shorter than the A2).
If you want to use iron sights, with the option of going to a scope, look at a flattop upper with a detachable carry handle that has a built in rear sight. PK Firearms also has a selection of these. Or, you can install a back up iron sight on the flattop upper and mount a scope with one piece detachable base - Guide for One Piece AR Mounts.

A properly assembled AR rifle certainly has the capability of being accurate at a range of 200 yards.
