NDS or Heatnbeat

You only need the special pin if you're putting it on a 601 style lower.
A "normal" lower with a "normal" pivot pin will work with your upper just fine.

NoDak and Heatnbeat are two sources.

Like they said.  I'd slap it on an A1 lower, though, if it were mine...

Dings,Bro,,the rebated lug ONLY uses the 601 pin on a 601 and 602 with a slabside lowerAll upper receivers were rebated up to about 1969 + -,colt just never changed the forging. You cannot use the 601/602 pivot pin as the correct lower for a 603 is either partial fence,or full fence and uses the standard pivot pin and detent. The 601 pin has a full round head and will not even fit on a partial or full fence.

Tex is correct you only NEED the pin for this type lower that does not use the captive front pin

thank ya gentlemen.I felt some rattle and space between the upper and lower and went through everything and noticed the rebate..thanks again
receiver is a full fence.FWIW.Things start to come back slowly as time has erased a lot of things I should know or took for granted.
