| If I want to do a Dissipator style setup with triangulars, am I going to want mid-length or carbine-length gas system under there? I have seen the carbine-length and it required removing a bit of material from the handguards, and have heard off-hand mentions that this might be different with the right mid-length setup, but that seems counterintuitive to me. Any help is appreciated. |

I did just such a setup (triangular handguards over a carbine-length gas system) and it did require modifying the heat shields to clear the gas block. I used a Dremel tool with a thin cutoff wheel. It was not difficult at all.

The 605 is really the prettiest AR variant ever made in my opinion, if only someone made a flattop upper with a brass deflector but with the "hump" from a milled down FA. Then it could be properly bastardizard modernized ![]() I believe ASA made some 9mm uppers in that configuration |
