Here is the 601 upper that I just purchased from a fellow Retro board member. I already have it installed on my 601 build but I want to wait till tomorrow in the light to take some pics. I think it is in real fine shape.

Very nice!
Was that the one tgus was selling?
The finish looks nicer than my 601 upper.

It is the upper the tgus had on the EE. I'm very happy with the condition!

From looking at pictures of his collection, I think tgus is one of the members who seems to be picky about his parts' quality.
I imagine he doesn't have any junk, just good stuff hidden away.

Why are some of the 601 uppers darker than others?  I've seen some grey, some dark grey and some almost black.  I don't believe they were refinished after the AF got rid of them.  Did the AF refinish some of their 601's at some point during the life?  It seems unlikely, but I guess it's the only explanation.

Take a look at the the color contrast between the port door and the receiver in fourth picture down. The receiver looks to have a brownish tone in that picture and the one above it.

Very very nice!

The first two pictures were taken under flourecent light and the rest were taken under a standard white light.

I have a "virgin" 601 upper that is a very light grey.  I've lost interest in building it though.

Yep.

I could shoot you some pix after I take a few this weekend.  You can then judge for yourself.
