| I am looking for a good quality pic of an M16A1 that I can blow up to approx. 24"x36" without getting all fuzzy. I want a pic of the real deal M16 as this is for a gift I am working on for my Uncle. |
| Blowing any image up to 3ft size will result in a grainy pic. What you need is an image that has device independent resolution. That is, an encapsulated postscript image made in Adobe Illustrator. Google "M16a1.eps". If you can download a file with the .eps extension then you can make the image as big as a Tractor Trailer rig and it will still be as sharp as a 3" image. Of course, you will need a printer that can print something that big. Otherwise, you are stuck with searching google images for the biggest bit mapped image you can find. Google images lists the resolution of each pic it displays in a search. I suggest finding the biggest horizontal image available, at least 1,000 pixels wide. It will still be awfully pixely at the size you want, though. |

Standard print resolution is 300 dpi.
A 3'x2' image, at that dpi is 10800x7200 pixels. Standard screen resolution is 72 dpi a 3'x2' image at that dpi is 2592x1728 You WILL not find a print resolution image, online anywhere. You'd need a very high res camera, and would need to take the full size image, which most people don't post. You MAY find an image at the appropriate screen resolution. That would be the minimum size I would be willing to try and print something from. |
